Release: Government funds China-linked universities

"It's indefensible that universities with massive endowments receive taxpayer dollars at all. But now this has turned into a matter of national security," said ATA Communications Manager, Emilio Garcia. “The Chinese Communist Party (CCP) has slipped into our universities and is attempting through propaganda to brain-wash the youth."

The Australian Taxpayers' Alliance, the nation's largest grassroots advocacy group fighting for taxpayers, today denounced government funding of Universities following a report by the Australian Strategic Policy Institute claiming China is using Australian Universities' research to improve their military capabilities. The group also applauds NSW's initiative to scrap the "Confucius Classroom program," but states more must be done.

"This week, we've seen China attempt to influence Australia to a preoccupying extent. While China secretly attempted to infiltrate our parliament, many Australian Universities invite the murderous CCP into their campus with open arms in broad daylight.

"NSW deserves commendation for its initiative to scrap the "Confucius Institute's" curriculum following a review that exposed its nature as a propaganda exercise for the CCP. However, more must be done to address other university links to the CCP such as UTS’ open collaboration with Chinese State-Owned corporations.

"We have an opportunity to strengthen our national security and send a strong message: The Australian people will no longer subsidise those who seek to undermine their country."
